Following the drift of ’85, I’m pleased to see something that looks like confidence appearing in my photos. The year began in Wyoming and saw a final press jaunt that summer to hike across Switzerland’s Gemmi Pass. Of greater note is a working trip, which included several freelance assignments, I made in March to Minneapolis, a city I would move to almost exactly nine years later.
I mainly wrote for PDN, contributing photos to illustrate the articles. I also began to photograph parties, the one here being among the first, a reception thrown by The Image Bank, a big-deal stock photo agency at the time, absorbed by Getty Images ages ago. As usual, I’ve identified those people whose names were published when the pictures first appeared; friends remain semi-anonymous.
